Do You Need a Kettlebell Coach?
There is a big industry in Kettlebell coaching, and training. You must always beware of those who are out there only to steal your time, and take your money. Remember, only in your light, shall we see the light — and so you must look for Kettlebell training that inspires, and enhances, you.
You can always choose the path of self-revelation. You can read Kettlebell books. You can join Kettlebell online forums. You can watch a lot of Kettlebell videos. You can find some great Kettlebell workouts demonstrated on social media. You can make it work for you without having to spend any money on a self-professed professional. You’ll know what works for you, and what is safe for you, and your ability, and your age, by carefully reading, watching, and implementing.
However, you can also make contact with someone you’ve watched online, and see if they are available to coach you, or offer you training advice. You need to pay them for their time. You don’t have to make a long term commitment to train with them. Just try a session or two, and see what the experience does to enhance your skill. It may take you a few hires to find the right connection that brings value to your light.
You will find a lot of coaching that is affiliated with one style of Kettlebell training or another. That’s fine if you’re into that sort of strict thinking, but there are also a lot of really talented Kettlebell people out there who are just like you — quick, wise, and able — and are not certified; but if they match your style, and your anticipation, then you should certainly make contact with them.
I don’t put much hiring weight on a trainer being “certified” by some entity — or not — because many of those certifying groups are self-regulating, they charge a lot of money for that certification, and then subsequent re-certifications, and they are a closed ecosystem, and just a little too brittle for my taste. I much rather prefer to hire someone talented, and promising, over someone with a certificate, and an attitude — just because I put more faith in people than in documentation.
